Game Jam 2016
12 - 13 November 2016
I participated in an event called Game Jam where we formed groups of 4, (2 programmer and 2 artiest), and within 24 hours created a game with the theme given which was friendship thus we created the game called "Red Spear Blue Shield" where one player controls the red character whose main job is to attack the monsters whereas the blue character is to protect the castle with her shield from projectors. Whenever a monster is killed it drop either a red orb or blue orb and when there is 5 each, players can get heal up by press a button simultaneously.
I had a very fun experience after the event even though I was dead tried after the it due to the lack of sleep as I stay up all the way and it was stressful but we still manged to complete the game within the time even though if we had a little more time we could have implemented more interesting features like making the blue character able to do a melee attack or special monsters like bosses but all in all I enjoyed and valued the experience given to me.
Internship at Rubika
March 2017 - May 2017
For 3 months I had my overseas internship at France, Rubika Supinfogame where I helped out a team of 8 people on their project called Lyna's Guardian. This was the first time where I worked on such a big project and it didn't help that I was also had to learn a new engine which was Unreal, I was afraid that I would mess up their project that they have been working on for 6 months plus but the team I was assign to was really kind and friendly which helped me greatly when I was trying to setting in. The main issue when I was over there was the language barrier, if the conversation was simple it would be fine as most of them know English but if it were to get more complex like when I try to get help in explaining some features of Unreal it was a bit hard for the programmer of the team to explain it to me but he was always patience and tried his best.
I learned a lot within my 3 months over their not only Unreal engine but the lifestyle and environment compared to Singapore is quite different but I enjoyed my stay at France and I hoped the team does well in the future.
